Arlon Carnival

Arlon Carnival

The Carnival is an event rooted in Arlon folklore that you won’t want to miss. It is organized every year by the non-profit association Arlon Carnaval and entails four days of festivities in Arlon.

Day 1 – Dressing the stag

The Arlon carnival committee gathers around the monument of the braying stag to dress it up, and then presents the year’s committee.

Day 2 – Big fancy dress party and costume contest

The first ball of the carnival is held on the Friday evening. The evening takes place under a big marquee set up on the Plaine des Manœuvres. The evening includes a costume competition. The best costumes win prizes!

Day 3 – Children’s entertainment, concerts, grand carnival ball

The third day is partially devoted to children, with the children’s procession and ball for children. At the same time, the crowning of the new carnival prince and his court takes place at the city hall.
The day ends with a grand ball in the evening.

Day 4 – Grande Cavalcade

On the last day of the carnival weekend, the famous cavalcade (parade) descends on the streets of the city, offering an unforgettable procession for young and old alike. Numerous floats from Belgium and elsewhere parade along to music all afternoon.
